Top 10 Songs To Cook To
Cooking and music go hand in hand. If you were to pop your head in almost any professional kitchen between services (not during the lunch or dinner rush), you are going to hear music. Sometimes it’s played low in the background. And sometimes it’s cranked so you can’t hear anything else. Either way, there will be music. What you learn when you’re in this is that there are songs to cook to, and songs not to cook to.
Choosing the soundtrack that goes perfectly with your dinner preparation can be as simple as turning on the radio, Spotify, iTunes, or Google Play and hitting random. But, if you want to compliment your cooking experience, match the music to the feel of the food. I have songs that I prefer to cook too and so I have compiled a list just for you. Top 10 Songs To Cook Too
Numer 1. Fly Me To The Moon – Frank Sinatra
When cooking anything Italian, this song, or really anything by Sinatra, can’t be beaten. I like this song specifically just for the overall feel of it and the kind of natural optimism that exists within it. But again, you just can’t go wrong with Sinatra.
Number 2. Blame It On The Boogie – The Jacksons
This is just a fun song with a lot of energy. This is a great song to cook to on a weekend with a glass or two of wine. Honestly, this is just a great song to cook to at any time.
Number 3. I’m Losing You – The Temptations
I love the power of this song lyrically, vocally, and rhythmically. It lifts you up while bringing you back down to earth a bit.
Number 4. The Hardest Button To Button – The White Stripes
This is just another really cool song. It’s high energy and power to keep your body moving while your mind is focused on the task at hand.
Number 5. What’s The Difference – Dr. Dre
This is arguably one of my favourite Dr. Dre songs. Honestly, this goes with anything you could ever want to cook.
Number 6. My Type – Saint Motel
High energy. Fun to sing to. Great clean sound. Goes great with a fancy meal or when getting ready for a dinner party.
Number 7. Oregano – Chilly Gonzales
I can listen to this song over and over and over and over. It goes great with Italian, French or Mexican food specifically. I don’t know what, but it does.
Number 8. Rebellion (Lies) – Arcade Fire
I love this song when getting ready for a dinner party, especially on a warm summer night. This is song is definitely best when cooking for a group of people and plating family style.
Number 9. Sexual Healing – Hot 8 Brass Band
This song goes perfectly with a cold beer and some BBQ. It also goes well with any kind of roasted meat.
Number 10. Valerie – Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse
This is a pasta song too me, I don’t know why, but it is. I always play it when I’m making pasta. It’s fun and energetic and goes great with red sauce.
